This very desirable and sought after Victorian aesthetic 9 1/8 " soup salad plate is transfer printed in delicious dark brown.
The pattern features some of the most outrageous looking birds the potteries artist could imagine including exotic hummingbirds. A rim of wildly tropical flowers with hummingbirds. The well of the plate has aquatic orchid type flowers beneath two most unusual and exotic birds. A marvel of the imagination. This is as good as it gets!
The piece is marked on the underside with an impressed registration mark, the pattern name and trademark that identifies the maker as Ridgways, a pottery maker working in Stoke on Trent in the Staffordshire region of England during the 19th century.
Great condition, never used.
