Genuine Victorian Transfer Printed
Large Quack Medicine Beaker
Early Health Food
Bristol, England c. 1880
This is a fabulous transferware beaker, circa 1880, salvaged from a Victorian dump tip in England. It once contained, Quack medicine? For the patient who is always "below par”.
The larger piece stands 4 1/2 " tall and 3 " wide. It is potted with a precision cut rim and applied under glaze transfer. It is in good condition except for some old rust stains and some small chips to the base.
This medical nutritional piece is wildly amusing, a throwback to a much simpler and goofier time in the world of medicine. The piece will make a great addition to any collection of transfer printed advertising wares or quack medicines .
