French Polychrome Enameled Ornithological Plate
Unknown maker and age, crescent moon stamped mark
This plate measure 8 3/8 inches in diameter. The use of enamel decoration under and over glazes on earthenware in France was a development that occurred essentially in the third quarter of the Nineteenth Century.
Birds in surreal landscapes with detailed hand painting. Raised press moulded majolica type birds.
The piece is in great condition. Clean shiny and bright and there are no chips, no cracks, no hairline and no repairs.
