Genuine Victorian Transfer Printed
CURE ALL Pot Crock
Poor Man's Friend
For the cure of just about Everything
Prepared only by Beach & Barnicott
England c. 1880
This is a fabulous little transferware ointment pot or crock, circa 1880, was salvaged from a Victorian dump tip in England. It once contained a secret preparation developed by Doctor Roberts of Bridgeport. Advertised as the cure for whatever else ails you! Inexpensive for the " Poor Man ", the snake oil ingredients consisted of lard and beeswax mixed with awful mercury and lead with a dusting of fresh herbs.
Rare Size. The tiny crock stands a mere 1 1/2 " tall and 1 7/8 " wide. It is nicely potted with a precision cut rim and a crisp, finely applied transfer. It is in overall remarkable condition. A very aged patina for the rustic natural look.
