AESTHETIC BROWN TRANSFERWARE SAUCE TUREEN
Brown Westhead and Moore Potteries
Staffordshire England c. 1870
This early Victorian 9 “ long x 6 “ wide x 5 “ wide tureen is transfer printed in brown. The pattern features birds, of course. Designed/attributed to Pierre Mallet, this delightful plate combines the new Aesthetic and Japanese influences of the 19th Century, with a freer more naturalistic design and the use of asymmetry, along with the English love of nature.
Never used and in outstanding condition.
