RARE Gustav Leonce Transferware Plate ~ Feeding Chick 1890

VICTORIAN BLACK TRANSFERWARE with CELEDON GLAZE PLATE

Nature Series

Minton Potteries, potters to the Royal Families

Staffordshire England

c. 1890

This large Victorian 10 1/4 inch plate is transfer printed in black against a bright celadon green background.  A rare pattern atributing the design to Leonce Goutard, the famous and prolific French designer and illustrator who produced naturalistic designs for Minton and Wedgwood as well.  Whimsical !!

Good condition and never used.  A chip along the backside of the rim.
