These Victorian 9 3/8 " plates are transfer printed in dark brown. The pattern is very crisp and clear and features a fancy pin wheel flower border around a completely covered well with oversized Daisy type flowers and three magnificent cartouches. One with a proud Cock watching the sun rise beneath the cherry branch, another with a Bird chasing an Insect, and the last is of Ocean Shells and Sea Corral with two large unusual Fish.
The plates are marked on the underside the pattern name and trademark that identifies the maker as Ridgways, a pottery maker working in Stoke upon Trent in the Staffordshire region of England during the 19th century.
The plates are in great condition.
