Genuine Victorian Transfer Printed
POTTED MEATS PASTE POT
J. Sainsbury
c. 1890
This wonderful English Victorian pot once held potted meat. Cooked and reduced to a concentrate, similar to modern day Spam, made of heaven knows what type of meats.
Preservation was a must before refrigeration, these pots were popular as they were able to preserve their foods for consumption at any time of the year and these meat pots fit the bill, a bit of wax and cover on top.
The piece is in good antique condition.
The pieces will make a great addition to any collection of transfer printed advertising wares.
