This is a magnificent transferware platter dating to registry in1884. The piece is 15 inches long x 11 1/8 inches wide and the color is a rich sepia or chocolate brown .
The pattern is named AVON, featuring a fantastic wide, busy bands of flowers and oversized flowers. The center has a Japanesque cartouche of a flower surrounded by geometric flourishes. This pattern captures the Victorian love of nature and the exotic. Outstanding ! Never Used. The platter is in great condition. There is a tiny 1/8” flake off the backside of the rim.
