ROMANTIC ERA PEARLWARE BLACK TRANSFERWARE PLATE

ASIATIC SCENERY PATTERN

Job and John Jackson

Staffordshire England  1831-1835

This large early Victorian 10 1/4" dinner plate is transfer printed in black.  The printed transfer features a scalloped edge with wreath of flowers surrounding a plate  of Passion flowers and Dahlia flowers and a scene of an elaborate mosque or building in a pastoral scene.

The piece is marked with the pattern name and "Jackson's Warranted", indicating the maker John and Job Jackson, a pottery manufactory in the Staffordshire region of England, in existence only from 1831-1835 . The pattern is illustrated in Petra Williams' Staffordshire Romantic Transfer Patterns III.

Never Used.  The piece is in great condition.
