LARGE BROWN TRANSFERWARE COMPORT OR COMPOTE
PERAK PATTERN
G. W. Turner and Sons Potteries
Tunstall, Staffordshire England c. 1885
This large Victorian aesthetic 9 1/4 " wide x 5 1/4" tall comport or fruit bowl is transfer printed in dark brown. This compote in rich sepia brown was produced in the Staffordshire region for the American market during the height of the aesthetic pottery period.
The pattern features fabulous cartouches of sailboat on a mountain lake, quiet secretive buildings hidden in the landscape all surrounded by flowers and leaves and sunbursts. Wonderful geometric designs along the rim and handles and fully transfer printed along the outside as well. A rare aesthetic find for the collector.
Condition is great, appears to have never been used.
