BLACK TRANSFERWARE PLATTER

NANTASKET PATTERN

CLovelly ~ Ridgway, Sparkes & Ridgway Potteries
Hanley, Staffordshire England
c. 1876

This Victorian oceanic platter measures 12 3/4 "long x 10 1/4 “ wide and is transfer printed in black against a creamy white background.
The pattern features a marine border of shells and seaweed hooked together by strands of pearls.  Nestled in the well of the plate are a variety of seashells with sprigs of seaweed as the backdrop.  Stunning pattern.
Great Condition, no utensil marks.  A small chip to the edge not seen fro the front, caused from removal of spacing stilt at pottery.
