This is a rare large colorful hand painted transferware pitcher from the genre of rabbit ware plates that have become very popular.
Measuring 7 1/2 inches tall x 8 inches wide. The jug is decorated with rich chocolate brown transfer print which was then hand painted in a brilliant green, yellow, brick red and brown, depicting four rabbits and a maiden in the English countryside.
The piece recites the amusing rhyme, " So be advised of all sad deaths while you are here on Earth. And quench your thirst with beer. The very worst is that sad death which comes of thirst. "
Great antique Pub jug. Never Used and in great condition. Very light overfilling from the potters kiln near the top rim.
