IRONSTONE FUNNEL PIE VENT WHISTLE

This outstanding pie whistle vent measures  3 inches tall x 2 1/4 inches wide.  Condition is great.  Great decorative item for cottage, country or primitive decor or immediate use.

Very useful for pie making. It's inserted into the center of the pie underneath a small hole in the pastry lid. It allows steam to escape from the pie as the filling heats up preventing it from bubbling up and breaking the pastry lid. This helps prevent the pie from drying out keeping the filling in tact.
