BROWN TRANSFERWARE PLATTER
INDUS PATTERN
Ridgways Potteries
Stoke on Trent, Staffordshire England
c. 1877
This large Victorian aesthetic 16 " long x 13 " wide plate is transfer printed in brown.
The pattern features some of the most outrageous looking birds the potteries artist could imagine. A rim of wildly tropical flowers with hummingbirds. An ornate oriental garden house sits in the background of the platter with a winged songbird flying by a pair of Turkeys feeding on the ground. Wildly exotic foliage completes this excellent platter. The pattern displays the victorian eras love of nature and travel to exotic lands.
Condition is great. No chips, no cracks, no hairlines and no repairs.
