St. Augustine Ware ~  England ~ c.1900

This is a colorful hand painted transferware plate, c. 1900.  Measuring a full 10“ in diameter, the plate is decorated with rich chocolate brown transfer print which was then hand painted in a brilliant green, yellow, brick red and brown, depicting a pair rabbits, a frog soak up the sun, milk maiden and cows in the English countryside. 

The plate recites the amusing rhyme, " If we can believe that Adam and Eve were ousted for improper feeding, It’s easier still this fact to believe there were no Welsh rabbits in Eden “

 Never Used.  The plate is in excellent condition. There are no chips, cracks, utensil marks or repairs.
