Rare Set of 5 Red Riding Hood Plates

Staffordshire England or one of the fine Welsh Potteries

c. 1860

These 7 3/8” plates have crisp image transfers printed in black with great five color polychrome hand painting, clobbering in shades of cinnamon brown, golden yellow, red, green and cobalt blue. 

The set has the tale of Little Red Riding Hood leaving her mother’s house, picking flowers along the way, meant the Wolf, arriving at Grandmother’s door, and finding the Wolf in Grandmother’s bed.

Fabulous set and rare to find them together. Never Used and in good condition.  Picking Flowers has a hairline off the rim.  All have normal kiln stilt marks and pops to the hand painting under the glaze.
