AESTHETIC BROWN TRANSFERWARE POLYCHROME BISCUIT JAR
GORDON PATTERN
E. and C. Challinor & Co. Unicorn Potteries
Tunstall, Staffordshire England c. 1875
This Victorian aesthetic 6 1/8 " tall x 5 " wide biscuit jar or tobacco jar is transfer printed in a rich chocolate brown and under painted in rose pink, golden yellow and light turquoise.
The clear and crisp GORDON pattern features borders divided into alternating patterns of luscious exotic flowers and geometric puzzle shapes. The barrel of the jar features wild native roses surrounding Japanesque designs. The pattern displays the victorian eras love of the exotic.
Condition is EXCELLENT, with a tiny line off the top rim. Bright, shiny and clean and possibly never used. A rare form to find especially in this wonderful condition.
