BROWN TRANSFERWARE POLYCHROME PLATE

SPRING PATTERN

Brownfield and Son Potteries

Tunstall, Staffordshire England  ~  c. 1889

This outstanding Victorian aesthetic 9 3/4 inch dinner plate is transfer printed in brown with under glaze hand painting in golden yellow, bright rose red, marine blue and robin's egg blue.

The clear and crisp pattern features a bright bouquet of flowering rose red daisies and a Bluebird perched on an Elephant Ear Caladium watching a pair of Bluebirds frollic in springtime fun.  The pattern displays the Victorian eras love of nature.

The piece is marked on the underside with an impressed registration mark, the pattern name and trademark that identifies the maker as Brownfield, a pottery maker working in Cobridge in the Staffordshire region of England during the 19th century.

Never Used.  Great Condition.
