EXCELLENT BROWN TRANSFERWARE POLYCHROME SYRUP PITCHER OR JUG
WINE HARVEST
Pratt & Co Potteries
Fenton, Staffordshire England c. 1860
This elegant 19th century pitcher is transfer printed in dark brown with a pearlware glaze. Incredible under the glaze hand painting as only Pratt could achieve. 8 1/2 " tall x 4 1/2 " wide.
The pitcher has a fabulous moulded applied handle attached to a perfect body with an ornate pewter covered lid.
Each side displays Puttis at play during the harvest and the consumption of the grapes.
This piece is unmarked but it was made by Pratt & Co from Fenton in the Staffordshire region of England, a pottery manufactory well known for its multi-color transfer printed pottery.
Condition is EXCELLENT. No chips, no cracks, no hairlines and no repairs.
