This is a colorful hand painted transferware plate, c. 1900, from the genre of rare rabbit ware plates .

Rabbitware is a combination of transfer printing and stick sponge or spatterware. The plate measures 9 1/4 inches in diameter and transfer printed in black and painted with enamels in yellow, red, blue, brown and green. This folk art is a highly collected art form.  

Rabbits portrayed as humans riding in an old red jalopy and tooting a horn.  Rare to find in this condition and this is the rarest of them all.

Never Used.  The piece is in outstanding condition. There are no hairlines, cracks, or repairs. three tiny natural stilt marks to outer rim.
